DescriptionThis sticker is a play on words. The first word is a verb created out of the word Maidan. The Euromaidan (Євромайдан, Yevromaidan "Eurosquare") was formed through continuous acts of civil disobedience by Ukrainian citizens and began on the night of November 21, 2013 in Kiev. Maidan, Nezalezhnosti is the central square located in Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine. Maidan is literally translated as a square but recently has also taken on a new meaning as a way to express the opinion of people through peaceful protests which is common in Ukrainian culture and history. Demonstrations and civil unrest were the means used to call for the resignation of President Viktor Yanukovych and closer European integration. In this sticker, the word Maidan is transformed into a verb basically meaning to "kick out". The literal translation of the sticker is "(let's) Maidan the Yanukovich (out)!" as in let's get rid of him through or by the way of Maidan. "Viktor Fedorovych Yanukovych (born July 9, 1950), Yenakiyeve, Ukraine, U.S.S.R. [now in Ukraine]), Ukrainian politician who served as prime minister (2002–05, 2006–07) and president (2010–14) of Ukraine. " -- Britannica Academic Edition. "Mission: Ensuring the aspiration of Ukrainian citizens to a decent life and personal development through public and political activities."-- Democratic Alliance (Ukraine) website.
